Reference #441: Organizational Culture and Leadership

Languages (and the culture of the language users) fall on a spectrum of "high context" to "low context". In a high context language, a word or phrase can be more difficult to interpret since its meaning depends on context. In a low context language, the words are more precise and carry clear meaning. This implies some challenges for cross-cultural communication, even when the same language is spoken.
