#9c2: The conflicting priorities of a manager and her team.

A manager's work fundamentally differs from the work of her team in many respects, including the reduced reliance on her own creative output for her success. These differing needs may cause a manager to create an environment where her team is more likely to fail.

First, and more easily resolved, is the issue that a manager may be disconnected from her team's daily work (being far removed in time from being an individual contributor) and the realities of their roles and constraints.

Second, and more pernicious, is the fact that both manager and individual contributor have at-times conflicting priorities.
