#7: How to decouple career growth from organisational growth.

When considering your career development, you don't need to depend solely on what roles your organisation has available. Consider the next step up your career ladder, be that manager, Director, or VP. Instead of manoeuvring to land one of these limited roles, assess your skill gaps.

Determine the skills you need to excel in that future role, then take steps to develop them in your current role.

Similarly, you shouldn't index heavily on growing your team size. Head count is a limited resource, while growing your scope of responsibility is often possible. Managing additional responsibility helps you grow without rely on organisational growth.
