Despite the need for shared alignment, cross-functional knowledge, context, and expertise, silos still form within an organisation. Silos are natural and inevitable. Due to complexity in the business environment, teams must develop deeper areas of expertise, which leads to teams having different goals and speaking a different technical language to each other.

Yet this same complexity also necessitates a strong organisational alignment and sharing of content. To balance these tensions, leaders must make efforts to bridge silos, be that through amplifying their first team, or by creating a team-of-teams.
