#18: How organisations learn.

Organisations learn, yet organisations are made of individuals. These individuals are organised in a semi-static structure with the team as the fundamental unit. Hence when we say an organisation learns, we mean that either its people have learnt — by developing new knowledge, skill, and abilities they can continue to pass onto others — or that its structure has evolved to better suit its environment — by adjusting, removing, or creating new teams, and assigning managers who operate outside a team.

In a learning organisation, organisational change is inevitable and often but not always positive.
