Effective networks favour few strong connections over many weak connections. How do build this network? This is a matter of who you know — but who you know largely depends on who you are and what you do.
Consider your network as a community; to become part of a community, engage with it. Give, don't just take. Connections go both ways — don't just exert influence and receive information, but share your knowledge, and amplify others in your network.
